A case study on how WHIASU used the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework to develop a skills and knowledge framework for Health Impact Assessment practice was published on the 17th January by Public Health England.

Trade, health and well-being event
As a result of the decision to leave the EU, the UK will be developing its own independent trade policy for the first time in over 40 years. This has significant implications for a range of the determinants of health and well-being in Wales including food standards, environmental protection, tobacco and alcohol regulations, as well as economic and working conditions.

Today the Wales HIA Support Unit and Public Health Wales have published ‘The Public Health Implications of Brexit in Wales: A Health Impact Assessment approach – A Rapid Review and Update’.

The Research and Evidence Directorate have released a new report 'Supporting Farming Communities at times of uncertainty'.

POSTPONED: Introduction to Health Impact Assessment Training Session
The session will run on Tuesday, 3rd of March 2020,North Wales, Venue to be confirmed. The session will cover: A basic understanding of HIA, what it is and how it is done; the underpinning values and components of a high quality HIA; an overview of HIA in the context of current policy in Wales; a case study of a HIA in Wales; and a practical introduction to screening.

WHIASU Training and Capacity Building Framework for Health Impact Assessment published
The Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit have published a framework for training and capacity building in HIA this week. The technical report sets out an underpinning framework for the WHIASU’s approach to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of training and capacity building for HIA over the next five years.
